Baker blames physicians for role in opioid epidemic

Gov. Charlie Baker spent a large portion of his first State of the Commonwealth address speaking about health care issues, with the former health care executive touting accomplishments with the state’s troubled health insurance marketplace, while placing blame on doctors for the state’s ongoing opioid epidemic.
Four people are dying a day in Massachusetts, Baker said on Thursday night.
Baker pointed to doctors as the root of the problem, and he pushed for physicians to prescribe with more caution.…
